With AQUATREAT, one does not have to use softening chemicals anymore (or their use is considerably reduced in heavy industrial applications) and still obtain the benefits of soft water. Water remains safe and healthy for consumption because minerals such as calcium remain suspended in the water. Energized and declustered water becomes more “wettable” and contributes to better metabolism of living organisms including humans, animals, and plants.

Swimming pools and spas often accumulate numerous minute particles such as minerals, dirt, skin cells, body lotions, and oils. These tiny particles pass through filters and gradually build up, forming deposits commonly known as the “bath tub ring.” This buildup makes water dull and irritating, interferes with sanitizers, and causes burning eyes, dry skin, dry hair, and strong chemical odors.

The traditional solution is super chlorination to oxidize and burn off contaminants. However, this process is expensive and makes the pool or spa unusable for a period of time while also complicating water control and balance.

AQUATREAT helps at two levels. First, particles that normally pass through filters become electrically charged (polarized) and clump together into larger particles called ion floe clusters. These clusters are large enough to be removed efficiently by the filtration system. This process is known as polarized media filtration.

As a result, the system requires far less chemical treatment. Normally chlorine levels must reach 0.6 - 1.0 ppm in residential pools and at least 1.0 ppm in commercial pools. With AQUATREAT installed, most chemicals other than chlorine or bromine can be discontinued, and sanitizer levels can be reduced by as much as 60%.

The reduced chemical usage is possible because:
• Bacteria and algae growth are limited by the magnetic field.
• Reduced surface tension and increased ionic activity improve sanitizer effectiveness.
• AQUATREAT stabilizes pH in the range where sanitizers work best.

When other chemicals such as pH stabilizers are required, it is recommended to begin with half the usual dosage and allow 24 hours for the reaction before adding more. Over time, most systems operate with one-half to one-third of the normal chemical usage.

With AQUATREAT installed, users often notice clearer water, reduced chemical odors, less eye irritation, and softer-feeling water.

Secondly, since fewer chemicals are used, there is less chemical buildup in the water. When chlorine compounds are added to pools, they increase pH Levels, which may require acid treatments to rebalance the water. AQUATREAT helps stabilize pH and can reduce the need for these chemical adjustments.

AQUATREAT also induces a cellular rupture effect known as lysis, which can destroy certain microorganisms by rupturing their cell walls, thereby reducing reliance on chemical antibacterial treatments.

The safe pH range for pools and spas is typically between 7.4 and 7.6. Above this range, scale can form on surfaces and plumbing, while lower pH levels may cause corrosion of metal components such as heaters, pumps, and filters. Corrosion can also release minerals that cause stains on pool surfaces, often requiring costly acid washing or refinishing.

As AQUATREAT begins to coagulate particles such as minerals and algae, the filtration system may initially experience increased pressure because more contaminants are being captured. During this phase, filters may need to be cleaned or backwashed more frequently.

Draining and refilling a pool or spa is costly due to the expense of water, energy to reheat it, chemicals for rebalancing, and downtime. AQUATREAT helps reduce the need for such maintenance by improving filtration efficiency and overall water quality.

AQUATREAT also breaks down oil emulsions in water and keeps them suspended until they coagulate into particles that can be filtered out. It can even help remove existing scum deposits on pool and spa surfaces over time.

In many cases, pools and spas become almost self-cleaning with AQUATREAT, requiring only occasional vacuuming of settled debris. This significantly reduces labor, maintenance costs, and chemical usage.
